Entry Acceptance Rules

Number of Bottles Required Per Entry: 2

  • Although 12-ounce bottles are very strongly preferred, entrants may submit two bottles ranging from 10 to 16-ounces in volume for each entry. NO SINGLE BOTTLE ENTRIES will be accepted for beer categories.
    • Entrants proposing to submit one 750 ml bottle for meads or ciders must contact the Competition Organizer first.
    • Bottles may be brown, clear or green glass, and must be free of any labels, etched logos, or other identifying marks. Swing tops are acceptable but not preferred. Cans will be accepted, of course
    • A completed entry form must accompany each entry; recipes are not required. If entering more the one beer, make sure the correct labe accompanies each entry.
    • A bottle ID form must be attached to each bottle with a rubber band. Only use the bottle label provided by the registration process!
    • Categories and sub-categories may be combined for judging purposes, however beers, meads or ciders will be judged according to the subcategory in which they are entered. The 2021 style guidelines for each category and subcategory available directly on the BJCP website, here.
    • It is the responsibility of the brewer to decide and indicate on the entry form the appropriate category and subcategory for their entry.
    • Entries which do not meet these entry requirements may be disqualified.
    • Depending on the number of entries and category distribution, categories and subcategories may be combined or separated for judging and awards purposes.
    • These judging table breakdowns will not be available prior to the competition and will be determined by the Competition Organizer once all entries are processed.
    • Any disputes that arise before, during or after the competition will be settled by the Competition Organizer.
    • Brewer feedback is the primary purpose of Malt Madness. Your scoring info will be available to you shortly after the competition is completed.
    • Entries which do not meet these entry requirements may be disqualified.
    • Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once.

Please pay attention to the notes provided for each drop-off location. There could be earlier deadlines for some drop-off locations listed, particular hours when entries are accepted, certain individuals to leave your entries with, etc. All entrants are responsible for reading the information provided by the organizers for each drop-off location.

Best of Show

Best of Show judging will be held at 10:00 AM at the Spinnerstown Hotel.

Malt Madness XIX Award Presentation will be held at 3:30 PM immediately after the Homebrew Beerfest at the Spinnerstown Hotel.

Awards

Spinnerstown Hotel

Results will be announced/posted once judging is completed.

Awards presentation will be held right after the Homebrew Beerfest.

Places will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category/table. Medals will be awarded to the winners.

The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show beer, mead, or cider selected. Prizes will be awarded to Best of Show and table winners as available

  • Awards will be available for pick up that night after the ceremony concludes.
  • Awards not picked up will be mailed to participants.
  • Results will be posted to the competition web site after the ceremony concludes.
  • Brewer or representative must be present to collect prize.
